Video Convenience With In-Person Care When Appropriate
With acute care at Alpha Hormones®, not every non-emergency concern requires a trip to urgent care. Depending on your symptoms and clinical needs, our team may be able to evaluate you by video or arrange an in-person visit at our clinic.
Your provider can review your history, discuss symptoms, recommend appropriate next steps, and—when clinically appropriate—order testing, prescribe or refill medication, or coordinate a referral. Some concerns require a physical examination or testing and will be directed to an in-person setting.

Visit type and treatment depend on your symptoms, medical history, provider assessment, and the need for an examination or diagnostic testing. The examples below are not exhaustive.
- Cold, flu-like, and upper-respiratory symptoms

Acute Care FAQs
What can be treated in an acute care visit?
Common examples include cold, flu-like and upper-respiratory symptoms, allergies, selected skin concerns, headaches, urinary symptoms, prescription refills, medical forms and follow-up for blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes.
Do I need to be an existing patient?
No. Acute care is available to both new and established patients.
Can I be seen the same day?
Same-day or next-day appointments may be available depending on the schedule. Book online or contact our team for the earliest available visit.
Can I get a prescription during a video visit?
When clinically appropriate, your provider may prescribe or refill medication after a video visit. Some concerns require an in-person examination or testing first.
When should I go to the emergency room instead?
Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department for chest pain, severe shortness of breath, signs of stroke, loss of consciousness, uncontrolled bleeding, suicidal thoughts or any other potentially life-threatening condition.
Can you order lab tests or other testing?
Yes. Your provider can order lab work and other diagnostic tests when needed. Blood draws are available at our Pasadena office.
Is acute care covered by insurance?
Visits may be billed to eligible commercial PPO plans or Medicare. Self-pay visits are $250 for the first 30 minutes for a new patient or $125 for the first 15 minutes for an established patient. Questions? Call or text (213) 334-4111.
